Cairo - Breakfast on the Nile

5/16/2012 Yes, Breakfast on the Nile.  It doesn't look real but this is an actual photograph with the Nile Riverfront...and the tip of our river barge.

This map shows the Nile River.  Our breakfast cruise started at #1 and went north to the last arrow.  Then we turned around and returned.

Our bus pulled up to the pier alongside the Nile River so that we could board our breakfast barge.

We were on the Pharaohs boat.
Pretty authentic looking.  It was fun.
There were several tour buses from our group but plenty of room for us to all sit.
The layout was a buffet layout for the food and there was a wide variety of food to enjoy.  Cold salads.
And heated meats, eggs and vegetables.

Waiters brought cold and hot drinks to the table.
I filled my plate with all things yummy and especially enjoyed the crepes with the nutella sauce on top.

(#2 on the map) As we cruised the Nile, we took in some of the local artistic sights.  This building is next to the highrise luxury hotel Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah.  We are looking at an island, Gezira Island.  This is the southern end of the island (Gezira District). The northern end is the affluent Zamalek District.  The island used to be called "Jardin des Plantes" (Garden of Plants) because there a lot of exotic plants in gardens throughout.

This is an artistic roof.  I need to ask Dina about the name of the building.
 Looking north on the Nile.
Looking south.
Our safety escorts stayed with us the entire trip.
Our Captain kept us traveling at a nice and easy pace.  He would allow you drive the boat!  Very nice man.
Breakfast on the Nile comes to an end as we head back to the dock.
I added a close-up of the coffee cup for Mom, as she liked this design and wanted to see a better photo.
