Selcuk (Turkey) - City Scenes

The tour bus continued the travels through Selcuk, Turkey on our way to the Ephesus Museum. This gave us an opportunity to see the normal every day street scenes.  This sign was large and prominent by the entrance way to the old wall.  I typed the works in to a translator, it appeared to be a message celebrating the national holiday celebrated the day before, on 5/19.

The national flag is flying high on the medieval Grand Fortress and large flags are hung on the walls.  In the foreground you can see more apartments. The one on the left is completed and it looks as if the tenants have moved in. The one on the right is still under construction.

The storefronts were very colorful.  The local tractor store has fine examples our front.

The corner cafe has some customers.

Here is another view of a gas station.  All seems to be the same as in a USA station.  You can see more of the Grand Fortress in the background, on the hill.

Some boys were gathering material from the larger trash bins that sit along side the curb.  Their truck is boxed in with cardboard, and it looks like the walking boy has more cardboard in his hands.

This picture is fun.  The laundry is hanging out right along with the display of the red national flag.  The business on the bottom floor has familiar cartoon characters painted on the windows.

I find it very interesting to sample the daily life of the locals.  You can see activities that are very similar to what happens day to day in our own country.  So far, life in the Turkey towns does not appear to be very different from life in the Arizona towns.
