5/20/2012 Our tour guide introduced himself. He is a teacher who works on the tour buses in the summer.
This is the route that we took to get from Kusadasi to Ephasus. We started at the bottom left and drove along the coast, then drove to the east. This post is the area with the red arrow.
As we left the port area, we could see an outdoor shopping area.

Here is a closeup of one of the stores. There is also a little cafe.
We drove along the beach area.
Yurrta Sulh, Cihanda Sulh is written on the markers in the front of this memorial. This is a statue of young Ataturk and advocates world peace. He is in the middle of two youth (a young man and a woman).

This is a cafe on the coast. This area is called "Ladies Beach". It was restored in 2000 and now has wooden terraces and palm trees. This beach used to be segregated and was for women only. This is a very popular beach area because it is clean and the water is clean and shallow.
The Hand of Peace Monument. You can see the lighthouse in the background, on the right. I think that this is the entrance to the large marina area.

The large flag is out, remaining reminders of the Turkish national holiday that was yesterday.
The road starts to get higher as we go behind the condos and flats. You can see the Crown Princess in the background.
Beautiful. I think that the land that is on the horizon is the Greek island of Samos.

This is one of the stores along the route as we turn to the right and headed inland.
