Ladee's Travels

Cedar Creek Park is one of my favorite places in Belle Vernon.  There are nice picnic spaces for all size groups.  I also saw several campgrounds for groups such as scouts.  The park is along the "Youghiogheny River Trail".   Wikipedia info - click here Note: these greens are not added nor enhanced.  It is SO green there! These are typical picnic areas.  A large covered table space and a few grills.  Restrooms are convenient most of the time.  Some have playground equipment and horse shoe pits. This building is not in the park, but is important to the directions on how to get there.  "Turn left and go past the old school house."

I am visiting my home town for a week.  The greens are greener than you can imagine.  Jimmy stopped by after the Reunion to say hello to my mother and chat a little longer. It's been ten years since I last saw him but many more since I had a chance hold a long conversation.  I told him about my son-suggested goal to hike Machu Picchu in 2016 and he jumped on the training band wagon and invited me on a walk around the neighborhood.  I thought that he meant just down the street and up the little hill.  It became evident that the views would be much better if we walked higher on the hill, so climb we did.  Down the other side, around the bottom road, and back up the hill again to my mother's house.  An hour kick-off to my Machu Picchu training!  I passed "glowing" and "perspiring" mid way through the walk and ended with a good ol' lots of effort sweat. This is the view from the top of the hill near the home where I was raised.  I don't know exactly how far you can see, but I know that you can see the cross at Jumonville, beyond Uniontown, if you know where to look.  Friends and family from the area are familiar with these types of views.  I don't think that I have ever looked at them as long as I did when I was photographing them.  Maybe these views are why I find my self at the top of the mountain or the highest building in the city.
