5/18/2012 A row of lion statues sat regally on the hillside.  These are copies and the real ones are in the museum on the island.

5/18/2012 The stones of the Pythio were numbered so work must be underway in this area.  It was pretty cool to see how they numbered the great stone pieces.

Delos, Greece - Sacred Precinct of Apollo and Stoa of Naxians

5/18/2012 We continued our walk and moved in to the Sacred Precinct of Apollo.  This is the most important areas for visitors as it once contained three great temples dedicated to Apollo along with other temples, altars and monuments.

5/18/2012 Leto was pursued by the jealous goddess, Hera, while seeking a birthplace for her children, the children of the father of the Gods, Zeus.  The island of Delos holds an important place in Greek mythology as the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.
