I was surprised at the number of buses that were lined up, ready to take people back to hotels, ships, homes outside of Paris.  The restaurants were full, streets were lined with cars and motor bikes.  We walked north on Rue de Renard and turned left on Rue du Cloitre Saint Merri to see the Stravinsky Fountain at night.  It was running...so nothing much to see.  But we did see a light inside of Eglise Saint Merri as if a night light show was shown.  I think that the Pompidou Museum was free because the line wrapped around the building.  It was crowded so we enjoyed looking at all of the activity and then turned right on Rue Rambateau and went home for the night and the end of Day 1.  Stravinsky Fountain with Eglise Saint Merri in the background, lights included.

The event "Nuit Blanche" is literally "White Night" but is known locally as "Sleepless Night".  The free event makes use of traditional and non-traditional art venues.  More info is here . We went to Rue du Rivoli to see the parade.  The parade will be in three posts.  The first (this one) shows where we were able to find a place to sit and the next two will show the parade...although I can't explain what everything actually meant.  It was a fun event. We sat on the wall on the "Hotel de Ville" corner, across the street from Bazaar de L'Hotel de Ville (a department store).  The building was lit in blue when the parade started.

The walk to the parade continued on Temple, with shops and restaurants. The walk was from the corner of Rue Rambuteau and Rue du Temple, south to Rue de Rivoli.

They were open this night with performances for "Nuit Blanche" (White Night).  They offer Jazz, classical, contemporary classes...flamenco, street jazz and hip hop.  Quite an establishment. We walked in to the court yard to look around but did not go in to the dance performances. We watched through the window!

Day 1 We arrived at the apartment and unpacked.  Then it was time for dinner so we headed east in Le Marais to see what we could find. Across the street we spotted a natural stuff store.  Kim wanted to get an air freshener for the small apartment, and we found a nice eucalyptus oil.  This came in very handy throughout the trip.  As we left the store, I took this third photo of the restaurant.  It was full and that is a very good sign!  This area has an abundance of stores and a great variety. Comptoir Gourmet is at 51 rue du Temple.  A small menu Italian restaurant that has rave reviews. On my list to stop in next time.  Plus I love the huge doors in this area.
