Wittenberg - Market Square

The Market Square is a large public space surrounded by the ancient town hall, statue of Martin Luther and Stadtkirche.  We were able to shop and take a little break in this area. The shoppers took off for the stores, and another small group found a place to sample local products.

Aunt Emma's looked like a good place for
a snack. I took this picture for Emma.

Markt Platz (Market Square)
This is the ancient town hall.

The different roof lines are representative of the
various architectural styles used in the town.

Martin Luther statue is in the center of the
Market Square and is probably an often
used meeting place.

A peek inside a plaza looked inviting.

This is the museum of the often mentioned artist in the
area. I took this photo so that I could remember how
to spell his name. We did not go in to this museum,
but it would be a good stop if you were spending more
time in the town.
School by Friedensreich Hundertwasser - We didn't get to see this but there is another building by the architect Freidensreich Hundertwasser

  1. I love the Market Square concept. So interesting to go to see what's going on and people watch.
