Paris - Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysees

We started the day with a Metro ride directly to the top of the Champs-Elysees at the Arc de Triomphe.  We enjoyed the shops and lunch at George V.

Tina is happy to be here!

The girls in front of the Arc. Proof that we are REALLY here.

The long look down the Champs-Elysees to the Louvre.

Looking in the other direction through the newer arc.
Yes, it is rectangular.

These are on the upper ceiling of the arches.
Anyone kinow the significance of this design?
We've seen this on several different ceilings.

A nice view as we walked.  No idea who this guy is
but he was with a group taking pictures.
We all blended together.

Newspaper stand

Our delightful cafe.

Yummy things on the menu!

Filet Mignon de Porc (Pork Filet Mignon) in crust
with fingerling pototoes.

Mushroom and Cheese crepe with a side salad.

Beef Bourguignon

Close up of the cards and pictures sold at the little news stand.

Starbucks has good real estate all over the city.
This is what is in the Peugot showroom.  Very futuristic.

Just found out some interesting information about the Design.

The design of the arch by Jean Chalgrin is based on the Arch of Titus in Rome. The Arc de Triomphe is much higher (50m versus 15m), but it has exactly the same proportions.

I thought that this looked a little familiar! I saw the Arch of Titus while touring Rome in 2010.
