Musee Marmottan Monet and rue de Passy

Once we were back in Paris, we decided that there was one more stop to finish the tour of Monet. We took the Metro to La Muette stop in Southwest Paris. The trip was about six blocks to the Marmottan Museum, plus a few more blocks extra to see some sights before we found the museum. The exhibit spanned his life and had many of the working paintings that he did to prepare for the work at Orangerie (see earlier posting). This made it very interesting to consider the entire process that he went through before he created those huge 6'x55' paintings. The dates on the paintings were in a single year, but in spans of years.

At this point I felt more optomistic about taking the "post-museum stroll" to the Eiffel Tower and back to the hotel than taking the stairs to the Metro. So we walked through the upscale shopping district rue de Passy and enjoyed the sites (and snacks at the patisserie). Our walk took us down boulevard Dellessert, where we were able to view the Eiffel Tower from yet another direction. We crossed the Pont d'Iena [bridge]. We had been talking about going up in the Eiffel Tower today, but the lines were sooooo long at all of the four bases. We'll need to plan a "beat the crowds" strategy. [Kalen's photo]
