Miami, Arizona - Antique Stores on Main Street

I drove through Miami, Arizona this morning and decided to quickly jump off of Route 60 and see what Main Street looks like.  I first crossed a bridged wash that runs through the town.  I liked the bridges and the light poles with flowers on each of the bridges.  If you look at the wash without including the cut light pole, it looks just like an alley.  But including the light pole (and you can see this on every bridge that crosses the wash) makes it look a bit more charming.

The bridges along this wash are "Luten Arch", a patented concrete arch bridge designed by Daniel B Luten of Indianapolis.  Luton was awarded more than 30 patents for the improvements in the standard design.  The bridges were built in 1918.  See more details on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luten_arch

 This antique store  is on one of the streets leading to Main Street

 The building on the left is the YMCA.  The building on the right was unmarked.

 This is an antique store that is also off of Main Street.

 As I turned on to Main, I saw this and like the worn looking sign.

 Some buying is happening already, on a Sunday.  I was able to pull in to some empty parking spots and take these pictures.

 This deserved a closer look.  Yes, that is Elvis sitting in the doorway!

I need to drive through Miami when I have a little time to look around.  You don't see these types of stores if you just stay on Route 60, so look for the "Main Street Miami" sign.

Globe, Arizona - A Rust Wonderland

The light and the colors in this field was overwhelming.  Recent rust, as well as the changes made by aged rust, create a variety of patterns and colors.  The best that I can explain the pieces is that they are from farm machinery or old cars.  

Globe, Arizona - In with the Chickens and the Geese

Part of the work around the ranch includes taking care of the chickens and the geese.  Quite a lively bunch.  The geese pretended to chase us out as we were leaving.

Globe, Arizona - Two Room Schoolhouse

A local two room school house was moved a long time ago to the Ranch.  This was amazing and looked frozen in time.  There were a lot of treasures in this building.

 An old stove sat on the front porch.

 Inside there were shelves and a lot of tools.  This has been used as storage for a long time.  This was the main classroom.  The school was for children 1st - 8th grade

 Some canes hung on the wall.

 Several woman in the family played field hockey at ASU.

 These signs are always interesting.

 A smaller room was mainly empty but had a beautiful lamp hanging from the ceiling.  This was an oil lamp.

 And a few trophy heads, complete with staring eyes and cobwebs.

 Outside was a brick oven.  Fire in the bottom and a door for the baked goods.

 This is the house from the rear.

These are always interesting places to step back in time and see some old tools and supplies.

Globe, Arizona - Morning as a Modern Cowgirl

This morning we set out across the ranch to feed the cows who roamed.  We took "The Ranger" and with the back loaded with hay, set off to find the cows as they meandered around the range.  Many thanks to L&E for including me (and my camera) in this adventure.

The call that received all of the responses, moo-ing from the bush, was "Hey Babe".  The cows knew what that meant and came running.

 They also showed me an old homestead and a well.

 This huge boulder sits along side. We pulled over so that I could see...

 The grinding holes in the top. Very COOL!

 And old wind mill.  I said "Hey, you are supposed to be spinning!" and it let out a tiny spin and a grown..."Hey, I'm old!"

This was a fun morning. We headed back to the main barn area...TO FEED CHICKENS!!

I got to see inside the barn.  To get the perspective, here is the barn from the outside.  We had to go through a little door to get inside.
