Emmersdorf to Dürnstein, Austria - Danube River Towns Part 2

This is the continuation of the river views.

The next two photos show the statue of King Richard the Lionhearted. This is a memorial to his capture and ransom during the third crusade in 1192.  The story is not clear and built from fragments. READ THIS for a starter story.
This view is much closer and you can make out a horse and rider.
Back to the river. We are approaching the iconic blue steeple of the church in Dürnstein and the castle on top of the hill.
Oh, and there is a great wall.  Looks like the one in China!

We were treated to a Christmas Eve stellar sunset.  The ship docked at Dürnstein. Some of the travelers walked in to the town for a Christmas Eve mass.  Dinner ran a little late and there was standing room only.  Some of us stayed onboard the ship and had a communion service of our own.
Merry Christmas to all!!
