We got in to our rickshaw, remembered our rickshaw number, and off we went through the old town area of Beijing, the Hutong. The hutong area is comprised of narrow streets and alleys. The term "hutong" first appeared in the Yuan Dynasty and is a term of Mongolian origin meaning "town".
