I was waiting at the SkyTrain pickup for Heather. The plane had landed. She had her bag. She said she was inside, at the shuttle stop. That shuttle would bring her here, away from the mess of traffic and honking and people yelling at each other.
I don’t circle the airport anymore. It’s too much. Too many cars. Too many people. Too much noise. I sit in the cell phone lot. I wait. It’s simpler.
I had parked at the wrong door. So I moved the car. Circled around. Found the door I needed. Sat where I could see her come out. When she shows, I’ll wave, and we’ll load up.
We’re headed to the Grand Canyon. But first, Sam’s Club. She needs protein drinks. Then a stop at Love’s. I like Love’s. The snacks are good.
