Wittenburg - Martin Luther

Martin Luther is the highlight of the tours today.  His life and works, and the results.  We divided in to 3 groups of about 20, which is a really nice size for moving through the buildings and hearing the tour guides.  Astrid was our tour guide for the day.  The first stop was the Luther House (we had to get used to the local pronounciation – Luter). Parts of the original house are preserved and the guides presented the information in stories of daily life.  The walking was easy and the cobblestones presented a generally flat surface.  Steps were in small sets of 10-15.  The photos show details of the original building and tell a better story.  One of the display cases had an original Wittenburg Bible.  Look at the size of that book!  I was very happy to hear that Martin Luther’s wife Katharina (Kathe – Katie for short) was a strong and entrepreneurial woman.

Our cheerful tourguide Astrid.
German and punctual, she kept us in line
and on time!
