Paris - Luxembourg Palace and Gardens

I have wanted to visit these gardens for a long time.  Several people had mentioned that the gardens were in the midst of a spring planting, but I wanted to see for myself. I am not the only person in Paris taking advantage of a sunny spring day in Paris and great weather and location.

The photos were taken as we walked in, around and through. Lovely place even with half of the gardens planted.  I had seen another blog two weeks before this posting with the gardeners digging the fresh dirt, so I am very impressed with the progress.  The trees are in bloom and are remarkable.

Statue and flower bed as we entered the garden from
rue de Midicis.

The Medici Fountain

Color combinations of the flowers were beautiful.

A view of Montparnasse Tower through the fountain and gardens.

Children were enjoying sailing boats on the center huge pond.

People relaxing in the spring sunshine along the flowerbeds.

Children pony rides.

More relaxation with the Pantheon in the distance.

Large grass areas. People were to stay off of the fresh grass.

This area had a large number of picnic groups scattered on the
grass, until the police came through and cleared the area.

It was easier to take photos of the blooming flower beds
after the people had been chased from the lawn.

LOGISTICS and PRICES
Luxembourg Gardens are free.  Take a book and enjoy the area.  Plenty of park benches and chairs.  There are several cafes in the gardens and people also brought picnic foods.  We saw some McDonald's meals, but that didn't sound very good.

Just taking time out to go and visit a park - something I don't do enough of here. I need to make that a weekly destination since there are so many beautiful ones around. It's that way in most cities, and we just need to use our parks!

People definitely use the parks here. The government mandates these types of spaces and they are certainly used by locals and tourists alike. We didn't plan ahead enough to bring along a sandwich to be able to snack and look around. Nor did we bring books to be able to sit, rest and read. Very nicely done. I agree with you. I need to take advantage of the parks that are available around my home too. We have a tendency to just stay in our back yards.

Everywhere you look in Paris, you find a fabulous piece of history. And gorgeous flowers. This area was lovely and obviously a place where people go for some relaxation and quiet conversation ~ and an occasional boat race.
