Prague - Prague Castle in City of One Hundred Spires

Our last city tour was of Prague, the city of One Hundred Spires and built on seven hills.  We went through one more lock, then departed the boat at the lock and a bus took us in to the city.  The group was divided in to three small buses of 20 people, so the groups were small for the tour.

It was easy to hear the tour director, although she did lose a little control of the group.  We were used to the German guides telling us "You have five minutes to shop and then we are leaving." (They were very nice, and worked hard to keep us moving.)  The Czech guide said "Be back in 5 or 10 minutes.) Then we had stragglers, miscounts for tickets, etc.  Five or ten minutes...just a little too loose for our group!

The walls of the lock at Horin.

A helpful sign.
We are entering the gardens.

The St. Vitus Cathedral
(Photographs in another blog post.)

The trees were in bloom.  Spring is everywhere!

The guard.  These guards go through
a "changing of the guard" ceremony.

The interior of the Prague Castle complex.

A beautiful pink tree.

Flower pots were filled too.

The cobblestones were small and easy to maneuver.

The driving sections were made of larger stones.

A view down the street.  Note the fancy sidewalk pattern.

Look out over Prague from the Castle, high on the hill.

Our guide explaining that we need to be responsible,
stick with the group, and not get lost.  (Stragglers
prompted this conversation...not me!!)

Interesting building exterior.

The official castle.

Another view over the city.

Street signs.
Praha means Prague.

We finally got to the edge of the lookout and could take
some photos of the roof tops and spires. There were a lot!
This is a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Click here for wikipedia info on Prague Castle - It is worth your time to take a look at more information about the Prague Castle. Look at the names of the various buildings and gardens. There is also an underground pedestrian walkway that looks cool. We didn't use it.

Prague is very beautiful. We'll have to talk more about this because you haven't said much yet about how you liked it.
