Torgau - City Center

The bus took us from Wittenburg to Torgau while the boat relocated.  Torgau on the Elbe – City of the Reformation and Renaissance. Herbert was our tour guide for this city and he was a dear. Enthusiastic about the topic, and very knowledgeable, he was able to share much information.  We started in one of the large public centers, surrounded by renovated buildings.

The roof that looks like the house is peaking out from under received a lot of comments from the group, and was often photographed.

Historically, this is the spot in WW II where "the east meets the west".

Herbert - organizing the group

Different roofs

Looks like sleepy eyelids on the roof.

Neatly organized cobblestones

Apothecary store.
The brown tone shows the condition of most
of the buildings in the area prior to 1989.
It is hard to imagine that the buildings were
in disrepair as they are brightly painted now.
