This is where we left off on "Part 1". This photograph is taken from plaza Place d'Albertas looking across Rue Espariat. The street between the buildings is Rue Aude, and that is where we are heading.
From Rue Espariat, we turned right on Rue Aude. This is a nice little street with shops and cafes.
When we came to the intersection of Rue Aude and Rue de la Glaciere, we saw a building that had been refurbished and they kept one entrance with the original facade. The blockwork was incredibly complex (who thinks of these things?) and the double door was beautiful. The detail in the carving and the care in the details was marvelous. The embossed decor of the Hotel de Croze-Peyronetti (1625) looks like it comes from an Italian Renaissance palace. One source says that it was built in the "Italian Mannerist style". (Source) The architect was Paul Lombard and it was representative of his time. The door contrasts with the lightness of the friezes of the first floor. Source: www.monnuage.fr
The door handle.
The buttons to alert the apartments of a caller.
The cobblestones were beautiful too!
Very interesting building facades. Lots of hand work!
