A great way to see Phoenix and the surrounding areas is to tour via the Metro. The Metro offers a fast and easy way to move from downtown Phoenix to downtown Tempe, and on to Mesa. Here are some of the sights from a Saturday tour. The first stop was the Phoenix Market and it was filled with locally grow and created fruits, vegetables...and pastries.
The tall building is the Westward Ho, a historical building...one of many. Arizona State University (ASU) now has a downtown Phoenix campus in addition to the main campus in Tempe. The building geometry is quite interesting. We hopped on the Metro to move from Phoenix to Tempe. I noticed that there were a lot of "Beach Cruiser" bicycles in the area in a variety of colors. We walked through downtown Tempe to Gammage, a Frank Lloyd Wright designed concert hall. After spending an hour photographing and waiting for the dark clouds to clear, we moved to another area and a building with cool angles and shapes. The sun peaked out and emphasized the geometry. I found a barrel cactus in one of the courtyards, perfect in shape. We soon hopped back on the Metro and returned to Phoenix and the "Cruise on Central". It is a gathering event of classique and muscle cars. The event had been called off due to the threat of rain, but some of the cars and attendees stayed. The police were out in force to stop the "show off" muscle car driving. We stopped for a late afternoon snack as the sun was going down, and continued on to the downtown area for night shots of neon signs and the passing of the Metro car.
Fun way to spend a day. Thanks for sharing the photos of your adventure!
