Vienna - Kunsthistorisches Museum

The Kunsthistorisches Museum was on the top of my list for must-sees for Vienna.  Beautiful paintings, but it was the lobby that amazed me the most. We were on a tight schedule and could only spend two hours here.  At times it felt that we were flying through.  The focus was on the paintings. Here is a sampling. If you know the artist for the unmarked paintings, please add it to the comment section or send an email to me.

Trees along the walkway were blooming.

The side of the Museum with a tree in bloom.
Bought the combo tickets to this museum and
the Treasury.

Look up. Open ceiling!

Staircase to one of the side galleries.

Elaborate floor.

Staircase to the Painting section

It was hard to get it all in to one shot.
Oh, look at this. Oh! Look at that!

The staircase splits and goes to the two side wings.

View from midway up the staircase.

The light was a little different and the colors look more vibrant.

Art everywhere! Look left! Look right! Look up! Look down!

Paintings lined the walls. See the velvet rope?  Don't LEAN OVER THE
ROPE TO GET A PHOTO!!! The alarm will go off.  Me? Nope, wasn't
me.  So that means that it was....

Caravaggio for Sara?

Lighting from the ceiling

Each room has a set of couches in the center of the room.

A pieta.

Matching building across the park. This is the
natural history museum. We didn't go there but
I wanted to get a photo so that you could get an
idea of the layout of this building.
