Arctic Circle - Crossing the Arctic Circle!

As we sailed to our first Iceland port of call, we crossed the Arctic Circle!!  The ship gave us a certificate.  Wooo!

From the Navigator:
After departing Lerwick yesterday afternoon, the Ruby Princess set north westerly courses across the North Atlantic Ocean towards Iceland.  During today we will pas the Faeroe Islands which will be 25 nm on our port side as we make our way towards our next port of call Akureyri.

Today is laundry day!  All fresh clothes and international conversation in the laundry.  I started the day with a cappuccino in the International Cafe, made just right by El Mar from the Philippines. Always attentive Fabian from India was there every morning until 7 AM and making the breakfast pastries was Lindsay from India.

From the Ship's Official Log Book, with the entries recorded by the Officer of the Watch on the Navigational Bridge
Maintaining a north westerly course throughout the day the Ruby made her way towards Iceland.
Weather experienced throughout the day:Noon Position: 64°16.1' N 008°23.3W
Sky: Overcast
Wind: Southerly Beaufort Force 7/8
Temperature: 13°c/55.4°f
Barometric Pressure: 1019.3 mb
Sunrise: 06:43
Sunset: 20:00

Of note, northern lights were spotted between 20:00 and 20:30.  We did not hear the announcement and missed them.
